In this country not many years ago Black men's beaten and charred bodies hung from trees amidst crowds of cheering whites. They couldnt walk the streets without being victimized on a daily basis. They could be spat upon, chastised and humiliated for the most minor of offenses. Today however black men are free to seize opportunities their ancestors could not have even dared to dream. They are no longer non entities devoid of civil rights and unworthy of respect. Our brother Barack is living proof that all things are possible, and there is no doubt in my mind that God was at the helm of this achievement.
But as he stated last night President cannot do it alone. It is the responsibility of us as a nation to come together and make the change that we're all hoping for. We each have to assume the role of leader and do what others will not do. The days of sitting back and allowing things to happen to us as a people are long gone. We must be proactive and look to an uncertain future with optimism. I am confident that President Obama has all the tenacity, intelligence and grace under fire that we need to usher us into this new era, but only our diligence as a committed and supportive people will see to it that the job is done. But for now let's just bask in the glow of this victory and take it all in. We have truly made history...
Here's to the power of change...YES WE DID!!
